FCC to Test Spectrum Sharing | Tech NEWS

Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski said that the FCC will process with the National Telecommunications and Info Administration to test the idea of sharing government-owned spectrum with the public. Speaking at the CTIA Wireless trade show in New Orleans, Genachowski pledged to explore whether or not the idea of sharing spectrum could process. The NTIA recently proposed that select spectrum blocks could be shared in order to free up more spectrum for commercial and consumer use. The plan would necessitate consolidating how the government uses the spectrum it owns.
